Are there more reliable ways of generating data than those I’m relying upon?

Are emotional considerations crowding out more relevant information?

Is my memory of certain events or data clouded by what I hope is the case, or what I now judge more plausible?

Am I placing too much weight on too little data, perhaps of dubious quality?

Am I placing a level of confidence in my own abilities that is not sensible?

It’s not practical to review these questions every time we’re faced with decisions. If we care about reaching sensible assessments on those issues that matter to us, however, then cogitating carefully on questions like these becomes essential.
